Weekend 23/24th November 2019

It was a hectic weekend of action, which was neither bad or good.

The weekend was as usually almost entirely focused on Saturday, with two nice looking cards at Haydock and Ascot, with a few football bets thrown into the mix.

The football results were mixed, incredibly the sporting life accumulator, landed at 18/1, for its second win in 2 weeks amid amazing circumstances. I’d given up with it to be honest, as Rotherham went 2 goals down within the first 20 minutes, even meaning that I turned the match\goal alerts off my phone. Whilst in the pub, later, I decided to see how the other matches were going, with 10 mins to go, to see that Rotherham had turned the match around and were now leading 3-2. However, Stoke and Peterborough were being held at home. Remarkably two injury time winners for the afore mentioned landed the bet. In contrast however, it was a dreadful weekend for Scottish Football bets as all 4 bets lost badly, with it being a weekend of giant killing in the Scottish Cup.

In horse racing, it was weekend which could have been massive but ended up being moderate. The key race as usual was a big handicap, and as the tired horses jumped the last Haydock hurdle, it was looking like a certain winner for me with Acey Milan just getting the better of a protracted duel with Ask Ben, surely the winnings were in the bag I thought. Alas, Stoney Mountain flew from nowhere to storm clear in a slow motion finish. An absolutely gut wrenching defeat to take, even though I was on them each way. Ben Linfoot landed a huge gamble with Bold Plan (10/1 -11/4), and Handicap Snip had a nice winner with Thebannerkingrebel. Alas it was a very poor day for Northern Monkey and The Value Bettor, who couldn’t find a win between them.

Sunday was a quiet one with the only bets being in the Troytown at Navan. Fortunately for me, The Value Bettor tipped up Chris’s Dream (7/1 – 9/2), who landed a massive punt, and wiped out his Saturday losses.

Overall it was a mixed bag this weekend, with some fantastic moments, as well as some kick in the stomach moments. Hard to know about profits/losses until I update the results this week.

Next week, looks like another busy one, with Newbury Friday and Saturday, and perhaps a few punts on the snooker. Until then……
