Monday 18th December 2017

Monday 18th December 2017

It’s been a bit of a lull since I last posted, I’ve probably dropped a bit of my winnings, with no particularly outstanding results, a situation  which hasn’t been helped by pretty poor racing.

It’s a bit of a dead week at work as well, as we head towards the Christmas holidays, I’m really bored and kind of killing time until the finish on Friday and its only early on Monday afternoon. Can’t wait for a week off work, as it’s been a stressful time leading up to the New Year, but now it’s a lull, which is almost as bad. I’ll have to organise some site visits to break the week up. The last thing I want is to start betting due to boredom, and give back loads of this year’s profits. My main aim of the week, is to only put on bets given by my tipsters, and no others, whatever tips I get. I can’t throw away this year’s great results through ill discipline.

There’s the darts to look forward to as we head towards 2018, although a couple of my bets have already gone down. I’m heavily on Taylor, have a huge price on Gurney, and decent positions on Lewis and Cross. Having said that, it’s to see MVG being beaten, so I could do with getting some multiples going with him included.

Anyway, its quiet this week for punting, before the weekends racing, Boxing day, and then the Welsh Grand National. Northern Monkey has got me a decent position on Chase the Spud, which looks like my most exciting prospect as we enter the New Year.  I am on at 14/1, and also have him in a small win double (First leg won)

December 2017

As we head to the end of the year things continued pretty well in November, although I did have a couple of dodgy days, when nothing seemed to go right.

Northern Monkey continued to be the main man, following on from the Withhold coup, with a Saturday special. Sam Spinner was tipped at 8/1 each way, and also was included in a double with a winner from Dundalk on Friday night for a monster win. The horse was always leading and absolutely bolted with hardly a moments worry, just the kind of winner I like, no dramas.

The other good winner came from The Value Bettor, who tipped up Outlander to win at 25/1 earlier in the month. TVB also suggested an ante post bet on Apples Shakira at 20/1, which after bolting up was cut into 5/1 favourite for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Horsetrader made a profit through a big bet winner on Gold Prospect at the Hennessy meeting, and there were also decent profits through Elite Betting, who continues to make steady progress, with a couple of good winners recently.

Profits for the year are looking good, and I've kept records since October now, so all in all its been a very good year for me. One issue though, is that some bookies are now limiting my stakes, especially Skybet.

Anyway, hopefully I'll update before Xmas, and hopefully there'll be another Northern Monkey Special to pay for the festive period.

Take care

Steve

1st November 2017

Good Morning,

Its been a while since I've updated the blog, but punting and life have continued in the intervening time. In fact, in 2017 I've had some decent success. Although I am now in a permanent job and wages are less, I've managed to gather a good amount of savings through punting.

Also, I've managed to keep records for the last couple off months, which is a record for me.

My main tipsters at this point are:

Northern Monkey;
Handicap Snip/The Judge (An internet tipster);
Horse Trader;
Tipping Legends;
Ben Linfoot;
Matt Tombs (National Hunt Only);
The Value Tipster (National Hunt Only);
Ben Coley(Golf);
Makfi Elite (Rugby and Horse Racing).

At the moment I am also trialling a football and greyhound service, which could potentially be added to my portfolio.

Probably the highlight of my year was brought about by Northern Monkey, who landed a massive gamble from 25/1 into 5/1, when the Tony Bloom owned Withhold blasted home in the Cambridgeshire. As well as the ante post bet, the horse was also included in a double, making it a very special day for me.

This week looks like being a huge weekend of punting. There's great racing on Saturday as the National Hunt season properly kicks off, and also the Breeders Cup from the States. I'll hopefully update with results early next week.

Take is easy

Steve

February 21st

Time seemed to be really dragging on, as we reached 3 weeks to go until Cheltenham. The mundanity of work a boring inconvenience to what really matters in life. You should never wish your life away, but I was wishing these 3 weeks to pass as quickly as possible, until the best racing of the year and nearly a week and a half off boring work.

It was a decent Friday to start the weekend with Horsetrader after a poor run bouncing back to form with 2 winners, Hamelin at 14/1 and Willoughby Hedge at 8/1.

The weekend was pretty good, with Roger Bush and his West Country Racing service having some spectacular results, including a massive gamble landed on Arden Denis (4/1 into 2/1) on Saturday, and on Monday with Midnight Request (13/2) and Lord Ballim (11/2) landing me a significant double as well as the singles. Other wins included Vieux Lion Rouge for Betalchemist, and a lovely 10/1 winner  Zac Brown for Northern Monkey. Northern Monkey also recommended a double of Zac Brown and On the Fringe for the Cheltenham Foxhunters, which means that there is now a significant bet running onto the McManus owned animal. I also had 2 very close seconds with Flintham and Joe Farrell, but all in all a very good weekend and start to the week. The Cheltenham ante post portfolio is also looking half decent at this time, but not something to take for granted until some of them actually win.

I’ve also started following Ciaran Meagher, the new golf tipster used by the Paul Jones service, and he added significantly to the profits with a strong bet on the easy winner of the Genesis Golf, Dustin Johnson at 10/1, and a winning bet on Noh to be top Korean at 7/2. Added to his tip on Matsuyma to win the Phoenix, it’s a very promising start by this new tipster.

I am going to try and keep things relatively quiet this week, but there should be the golf again this week, and there is a reasonable weekend of racing to look forward to including the Eider and the Bet bright Chase.

Anyway, only 3 weeks to Cheltenham.....

The Weekend - 12th February

Mixed bag this weekend, with a strange set of races. At Newbury, there were a few races with few runners, and the Betfair Hurdle, which was the main focus of the week.

It wasn't a great weekend, but it wasn't too bad either. My highlight was Flying Angel who won at an early price of 8/1 for Horse Trader, whilst the big race yielded decent each way from Song Light, and Bet Alchemist tipped the winner Ballyandy up at 4/1.

The Sunday was good, Matt Tombs tipped Disko, who jumped like a buck to win the big novice chase in Ireland, and Northern Monkey had the first two in the staying handicap hurdle at Exeter with Impulsive Star and Rocklander. There was also a nice winner for Bet Alchemist with Mega Fortune at an early 11/2 in the juvenile hurlde.

All in all, a steady weekend but nothing special.

What's happened...

Hello, its been another long break since I have last posted, it was probably before the start of the jumps season.

Its been a mixed time, before Xmas things were very good with some superb results from all tipsters, but in 2017 it hasn't been so good, with a mixture of bad luck and tipsters having some dreadful runs of form. On a positive, I've managed to keep records and I've a decent set of ante post bets for Cheltenham.

Its only about 4 weeks to Cheltenham and I'll be looking to blog all the way to the festival including the festival its self. I've kept some records during the early part of the jumps season but will be looking to start a fresh from now and including Cheltenham, just for the blog.

The tipsters I am using are:

Tipping Legends
Ben Linfoot;
Northern Monkey;
Matt Tombs;
The Value Bettor;
Bet Alchemist
Paul Jones.

Its is my intention to just use the above, with the possibility of a couple of additions for the Cheltenham festival.

Ok, I'll be back with a review of the Newbury festival early next week.
