York Review Week end 25/08/2019

25th August 2019

York festival week was always going to be frantic, and that certainly was the case.

It was the same tipsters as usual for me, although Northern Monkey, produced a slightly limited service due to his nuptials, and I had subscribed to the Neil Channing horse racing service for York. Alas this superb service only operates during the big racing festivals and hence there won't be another special until Cheltenham 2020. I'll give a brief summary of the tipsters, then the highlights of each day, followed by some profit and loss numbers.

Ben Linfoot - A profitable week for Ben, with a 16/1 winner in the Ebor

Weekly Performance = +£215 Overall = -£79

Nothern Monkey - A solid week from Wayne, with a decent profit to consolidate the previous weekends mega winnings.

Weekly Performance = £330 Overall = £5365

Betting Emporium (Neil Channing) - A great week for this festival limited high volume service, with a particular highlight being in the last race of the day.

Weekly Performance = +£485 Overall = £1407

Scottish Football Bets - A poor week from Greg with only one winner from five bets.

Weekly Performance = -£192 Overall = -£130

Golf(Ciaran Meagher) - A steady week of profits from limited bets. Casey finished top 10 at 12/5, whilst Koepke placed in the overall, and dead heated in the first round leader.

Weekly Performance = +£220 Overall = +£544

Handicap Snip - The poor run continued with this service with no winners on the week. The last winner was at Goodwood, and this service will need a quick improvement if I am to continue following it.

Weekly = -£576 Overall = -£1906

Wednesday

York started with a band as Northern Money tipped up last weeks hero Dakota Golf, who toughed it out to win the first race of the day. The only other winner on a relatively poor day was Eddystone Park, who came from the clouds to win the stayers handicap.

Thursday

No winners on the worst day of the week for me, with heartbreak in the last, with my three finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th to a 66/1 shot.

Friday

Friday was entirely saved by the very last day of the day where incredibly I had the first three, who all finished miles clear. It just shows the fine margins at these festivals between winning and losing. It was a but special as I watched it in the Mop with a oh so sweet tasting pint of Guinness.

Saturday

I was attending the Cheadle Beer Festival on Saturday, after a morning of walking retired greyhounds, and so watched the racing on my very drunken return.

A solid day to finish an eventful week, with Zaaki winning for Betting Emporium in the first race of the day at 7/2, and finishing by both Betting Emporium and Northern Monkey both tipping the 10/1 winner, who led all the way. Northern Monkey also tipped Shine So Bright to win at 6/1 (Still think he got beat), and Ben Linfoot weighed in with the winner of the Ebor at 16/1.

Review 20th August 2019

The first week at the new job went ok, although as is usually the case things are a little slow to begin with. Either way there is plenty of work out there at the moment, so nothing too much to be worries about.

Last week was a fantastic week of punting, with Northern Monkey producing some incredible results. Wayne is getting married this week and I am sure that the last 4 weeks have helped pay for the festivities.

Saturday was just one of those classic days, probably the best of the year so far. Breanski set the ball rolling with a gutsy 14/1 win at Doncaster, which was a relief after the first bet of the day Alaadel bombed out. This was followed by Dakota Gold producing a demolition job in the big sprint at Ripon at an early price of 7/1. The day got even better when the biggest bet of the day, Anna Bunina won the next at Ripon having drifted out to 11/4, which also landed a double with Dakota Gold. The day was capped off when Hartzadar cruised to victory at Ripon at 7/2. The only other bet was on Ripp Orf, who ran a cracker but was just touched off in second.

No bets again from Ben Linfoot, with the only other horse racing bets coming from Handicap Snip, whose only returns from 4 bets was a close second from Hyperfocus. Handicap Snip really needs to turn things around at York.

Golf results were ok, but nothing special as John Rahm landed a place return and Adam Scott won a decent bet when top Australian. An overall profitable week.

Scottish Football Bets having been so good last week, had a poor week with several matches going pear shaped in the closing minutes. For once my cashing out, worked as I took the money when Peterhead went 2-0 up.

The Rugby League yielded a small profit due to wins by the Bulldogs and Raiders.

It looks like being a busy week ahead, with the York Ebor Festival.

After the York festival I will provided comprehensive results.

11th August Review

Week ending 11th August 2019

Another decent week for me, although it could really have been a special one with a little more luck as a 3rd winner in Northern Monkeys Trixie would have landed the jackpot and a big golf bet just couldn’t get over the line.

My main man this week was the irrepressible Northern Monkey, who landed his first maximum of the season when Victory Day absolutely hosed up in the final race of the Shergar Cup, under a classic Spencer come from behind win. Victory Day was adviced 9/4 ante post and in a double with Power of Darkness who won at 4/1. If only Watchable had won, who was in a treble and doubles with the afore mentioned winners. (Overall = +2494.50)

There were no bets from Ben Linfoot this week, so the only other horse racing bets came from the disappointing Handicap Snip, who alas had another 2 losers (Overall=-£1160).

Away from the horses Scottish Football Bets had another solid weekend of profits with 3 winners (Overall=+£254)

Golf was disappointing as despite hitting the front and trading odds on midway through the final round, John Rahm made back to back bogies to eventually only finish 3rd and only pay out each way (Overall=+£136)

I’ve started with another couple of tipsters, one who provides Rugby League picks from the NRL and Super League and a Greyhound tipster Called Top Dogs. Mixed results from these 2 this weekend, although I am only playing to really low stakes. I’ll aim to include more details of these tipsters if the trials are successful.

Anyway, I’ve started my new contract this week so I am a little busy at the moment, so will have to cut this short, but hopefully can provide a better review next week.

Wednesday 7th August 2019

Wednesday 7th August 2019

Thought I’d do a mid-week blog given how bored I am at work today. Fortunately my new contract role starts next week, which if nothing else will be a change.

As usual there’s little doing on the horse racing front, with the exception of a couple of bets from Northern Monkey. Wafy given an atrocious ride by Crowley finished second meaning a small loss, whilst there’s one running today at Brighton.

Scottish Football bets had 4 punts on the cup football last night and in keeping with his good recent form Greg pulled in 3 winners and a profit on the night. Alas, I have this habit of cashing out early which cost me a little. I think that in future I won’t follow the scores live, and hence won’t be tempted to lose money by cashing in winning bets. Let face it, if it was in the punters favour, Bookies wouldn’t offer the cash in option.

It’s getting towards the end of the golf season, as we enter the Fedex playoff series and this week there are a few bets for me from Declan Meagher. Fingers crossed that there will be some returns.

I am looking at another couple of services at the moment, a greyhound tipster called Top Dogs and a football tipster. I’ll update on these if I decide to add them to the portfolio.

Goodwood Review

Week review 3rd August 2019

What a frantic week Goodwood ended up being, some great days and some not so great days all clouded in a haze of alcohol. An overall a profit of just over £500 despite a few highs and lows.

There’s just too much to give a review in detail so I’ll summarise with a resume of each tipster performance.

I’ll be aiming to provide weekly individual tipster performances from now onwards, but for now it’s just the on-going profits.

Northern Monkey

A good set of results from Wayne with the highlights being three winners from Galway including Waitingfortheday, Mr Adjudicator and Saltonstall. Results from Goodwood were a bit frustrating, with his usual strong suit of sprinters underperforming. However, you can’t complain with a healthy profit. (+£1649.50)

 Ben Linfoot

Given the nature of the high prices which Ben tips at there will be losing runs and alas Goodwood wasn’t the greatest. There were 17 tips over the 5 days, with one winner Beat Le Bon, and a 33/1 second with Seinsational. (-£294)

Scottish Football Bets

Scottish Football Bets is run by Greg Gordon, and is exactly as described, a service which provides bets predominantly based upon Scottish Football, although he does occasionally dabble in other leagues.

It’s been a slow start to the season with the preseason/Scottish league cup matches, but with the league starting, results certainly picked up last weekend and put the service into profit. A notable winner, being a strong single on Cove Rangers, who eased to a 5-0 victory. Bets are a mixture of singles, and doubles and include Asian handicap and total goals markets.

It wasn’t the greatest day on the horses on Saturday but SFB had 5 winners out of 6 to ease the pain and plug the gaps. (+£93)

Handicap Snip

A terrible week for Handicap snip, who had 9 bets without a single place being achieved. Let’s just hope that Rick can turn things around or it may end up being a case of the service being cancelled. (-£1070)

Betting Emporium by Neil Channing

This service only covers the big festivals such as Cheltenham, Ascot and Goodwood but is really high volume with sometimes several each way bets in the big handicaps which tend to be Neil’s forte.

Despite a poor start on the first day (Tuesday) this service proved to be the star of the Goodwood show. Highlights included having a one, two in the concluding sprint on the Wednesday, which was much enjoyed in the local with a pint of Guinness, and Beat Le Bon in the Mile Handicap. The good thing about this service is that the winners were accompanied by a decent number of each way placers which keeps the bank balance ticking along.

I’ll certainly be looking to join his next festival special which will cover the York Ebor Meeting later this month. (+£912.50)

Overall Betting Balance up to 06/08/2019 = +£1740 Weekly = +£512
