The Weekend

It was a very busy Saturday, as usual, and I was just hoping to end the festival with some money left in my betting banks. I decided to record the racing and watch it afterwards as I was going to a beer festival in Manchester.

I was pretty wasted when I finally sat down to watch the afternoons action, and it didn't start in the best style as after 4 races all I'd managed was a couple of placed each way runners in Express Himself (could quite get up) and Almodovar, both tipped up by Horsetrader. Race 3 was the Diamond Jubilee stakes and fortunately in a desperate finish Twilight Son scrambled home to finally give me a winner, tipped by Bet Alchemist which was a big relief.

The big race of the day for me was the handicap sprint and to even more relief it provided me with the winner and 3 placed horses out of the 5. The winner Outback Traveller had been tipped by Paul Kealy of the Racing Post Weekender at 14/1, whilst Ben Linfoot had 2 juicy priced placed runners in Glen Moss and Buckstay.

In the final race I was only on the Mark Johnson trained Oriental Fox, who never seemed likely to get there, but fortunately finished 4th thus meaning I broke even on the bet.

Overall, I reckon I lost on the day, but it could have been much worse.

On the Sunday there was only the one bet, which was La Cressonniere, which fortunately won the money for Bet Alchemist, and helped reduce some of Saturdays losses.

Its going to be a quiet week, but I'll do a mid week update.
