The Cheltenham Open meeting to me signifies the start of the jumps season, when the stars start coming out and the flat becomes a distant memory. I've enjoyed the flat this year and I think its been a decent season for me, with Northern Monkey, Horse Trader, Paul Jones, Roger Bush, and Ben Linfoot showing some reasonable results. I've managed to keep discipline for the majority of the time as well, although as always my record keeping has been sporadic at best. This has meant for once I've managed to keep my general finances under control, and have even put a little bit of money aside in case of a period out of work.
I am back working at Salford, which is good for travel and there's loads of work as well, so I should be busy until at least next March, with plenty of money in the bank for the festival. This year I am making it to Cheltenham for the Wednesday, I'll be on my own, but it will be good to get back there after missing it for a few years.
I'll be pretty much following the same tipsters again through the winter, I've added Tipping Legends, who have started a pay as you go service (Promising early results), and will be also following dedicated National Hunt services from Matt Tombs and The Value Better.
The weekend wasn't bad, Paul Jones had tipped Native River at 16/1 ante-post, topped up by a bet on the same horse by Northern Monkey at 6/1, and Tipping Legends followed up their recent good run by tipping Irving at a tasty 6/1. Another tipster in fabulous form is Ben Linfoot, who tipped Carole's Destrier, who I backed each way at 25/1, and he picked Otago Trail who won at 10/1. Another 16/1 winner from Paul Jones with O Maonlai at 16/1, and all in all it was a pretty decent punting weekend despite a couple of my tipsters blowing out.
It had been a lean time since by last posting, with a couple of poor days chasing losses, so this weekend was well overdue to be honest.
This week looks relatively quiet until the weekend, although I have a few on going bets on the Snooker (O'Sullivan, Selby, and Ding) and my new golf tipster 'Pinpoint Golftips' (although I'll be starting to low stakes).
Finally, my Christmas project is well under way, and its to have a lumpy bet on Michael Van Gerwen to win the World Darts, which starts in mid December. I've already got plenty on, and will be looking to press the bet up over the next couple of weeks, potentially using Cue Card for the King George as a way of boosting the bet. I've covered with a bet on defending Champion Gary Anderson, the only potential threat in my eyes.
Hopefully back with an update soon..
