It’s not been the best of times since Goodwood, I haven’t punted as much as usual but even so, results have been very poor from all my tipsters. Also, I have lost discipline a couple of times, which has eaten into my profits. In the future I really need to take a complete break after a successful festival or Saturday, to allow my emotions to reduce back down to a normal level. I am disappointed with myself, but as long as I improve and learn from this, I guess that’s the main thing. In life we need to make mistakes, but then learn from them and improve.
This Saturday was really all about the big Sprint at Ripon, I had a decent sized bet on Kimberella (Northern Monkey), as well as a double rolling up onto this horse, with savers on Related and Intisaab. Intisaab came the closest, finishing fast but too late, in a day of poor results. Horse Trader tipped Von Blucher who also narrowly failed to deliver a win. Sometimes its fine margins between a great day and a poor one, and at the moment I seem to be on the wrong side.
This week it’s the York Ebor festival, so from Wednesday onwards it’s going to be made busy I would guess. Alas though, I’ll only be having Friday afternoon off work.
One further tweak to my strategy will be leaving the golf alone, as since Stenson’s win in the Open, results have been dire. From now on I’ll only bet on the big tournaments.
I’ll be really taking things easy now until Wednesday, and then hopefully I can get things back onto track with a great York.
